The SAS-E is a high-performance, reliable, and easily manageable solution designed to distribute time and frequency signals for satellite communications, digital TV/audio broadcasting, microwave links, and satellite ground stations.
The Epsilon™ Switch and Amplifier System (SAS-E) offers a cost-effective method to extend the distribution of time and frequency signals—including pulses, low phase noise frequencies, and Time of Day signals—by amplifying them with minimal added phase noise and high RF isolation. This makes SAS-E ideal for delivering reference frequencies to transmitters, up-converters, and microwave links. It supports transparent pulse regeneration for any pulse-encoded signals such as 1 PPS and DCLS IRIG.
SAS-E can also be paired with two clocks to create a redundant, highly reliable distribution system. It continuously monitors two inputs (A and B), automatically selecting the optimal source for output distribution. A configurable smart switching algorithm determines which signals—frequency, pulse, Time of Day, or external alarms—to monitor and when to switch. Users can override automatic switching via the front panel or network management for maintenance or single-clock operation.
Setup, status, and alarms are accessible through web browsers or SNMP protocol, with voltage level and minimal period monitoring indicated by dedicated LEDs.
Two versions of SAS-E are available to suit output capacity needs: the 1U SAS-17E supports 8 frequency and 8 pulse outputs, while the 2U SAS-36E supports 16 frequency and 16 pulse outputs.
